My Sugar Detox Review: Should You or Should You Not?

If you’re like me, then you know I’m all about detoxing, which is why I write about it all the time. Needless to say, detox is my favorite topic. I did a juice detox a couple years ago which cleared out my skin permanently,

About a month ago my health coach school (Health Coach Institute) did a 14-day cleanse. They do it three times a year and it’s part of the program they offer. Twice they’ve done it but I wasn’t able to participate. The first time I was pregnant and was having some serious morning sickness. The second time which happened recently I just had a baby, nursing and therefore limiting my food supply to plants was not gonna cut it for 2 weeks. Especially I eat meat.

However, I still wanted to participate and do the cleanse and since the cleanse itself is based on the elimination diet, I decided to eliminate my sugar for 2 weeks. That. Was. Painful. I had serious withdrawals and headaches. I didn’t realize how much sugar I consume on a regular basis.

On the other hand, after the headaches and mood swings started to settle believe it or not I began to feel better. Not to mention my skin was a little brighter. Energy wise? Didn’t see a difference I guess because I was only doing it for a couple of weeks.

Do I recommend a sugar detox? Yes as much as possible do it consistently like once a month especially if you eat a lot of sweets. And even if you don’t, most of our food nowadays are made up of sugar. I think this helps ease us into lowering our sugar intake especially if it’s your long term goal. In the next few days I will talk about the 3 amazing benefits of doing a Sugar Detox. See you on my next post!
