Find focus in decluttering Pt 2

Hello everyone!

So this is Part 2 of the my 4 Part Series blog post: Find focus in decluttering. Thank you for following this post, first and foremost.

But first, a realization:

When you decide to stretch yourself beyond the boundaries and people’s expectations of  on what you can do, when you decide to come out of the pack and bring out your inner genius to the spotlight, suddenly it’s as if the Universe starts conspiring for you. When you finally have that clarity on how you would create the life that you want,  things will start coming together for you.

So my challenge to you is that to make that decision and a goal to find clarity in your purpose (if you haven’t found it). Who do you want to be? How  do you want to live?

Let’s get started with the exercise. I want you to take a piece of paper and write on top:  “Clearing the Clutter”. The first area we will be working on is your environment, specifically your work space.

Think about it for a minute. When someone comes into your space, what would you like for them to see? What is the message that you are trying to impart? We always want to ensure that our physical environment reflects our message. Here are five ways on how we can remove clutter in our work space/environment:

  • Clear out your desk. Start filing papers, bills and receipts (or throw them away if need be). When I was in nursing school, I always made sure I clear out my desk after doing school work. I still do it to this day.
  • Remove files of magazines, papers and projects from your office floor. Pretty much if there are things that can be thrown away, be brutal. (Just like when you’re editing your closet).
  • Remove piles of stuff from your book shelves, and organize your books and nick knacks to where they’re neatly arranged.
  • This is my favorite one and I swear I do this at least once a week. Unsubscribe to at least 5 e-newsletters that you either don’t have time to read, not anymore interested in, or don’t remember why you signed up for.
  • Lastly, delete messages in your email that are at least 2 weeks old and you already resolved (or put in a folder if it’s too important to delete).

So there are your five suggestions to clear out your space in your environment. As you look at this list, I want you to pick one action that you will implement right away. Just one. Which one of these action steps, is the easiest thing to do? This will be your take away for this post.

Don’t forget to leave a comment on which action step you choose!

Warmly,

Wella 🙂
